Blogging instructions

Posting word documents:

Login to your blog (you will be in the edit mode)

Click on Article

Put a title in the title box, this titles the “Article”

Copy (CTRL C) and paste (CTRL V) the document you want to post into the “Article”

Request publishing and Save

Posting Pictures (Images) that are found on the internet:

Login to your blog (you will be in the edit mode)

Find the picture from the internet that you want to include on your blog

Select the image

Copy the picture (CTRL C)

Open an article on in your blog and make sure you are in the 'graphical' format

Title your article

Paste (CTRL V)the image into your blog

Add citation and any text you want

Request publishing and Save

Posting Hand-drawn Illustrations or Photos not on the Internet

Login to blog

Open a new “article”, make sure you are in the 'graphical' format, and add title

Click on the "insert image" icon (the one that looks like mountains)

Open another tab on your browser (CTRL T) and type in http://picvault.info

Use the 'browse' button to find your photo.

Click the 'upload image' button.

Press 'select code' from the top box marked 'URL of your image'

Copy the code (Ctrl C)

Return to the window of your article.

              Paste the code into the URL location.

Resize to 300 pixels in width for a medium size photo

Choose a border and/or alignment as needed, or skip.

Click OK.

Put in appropriate citation

Request publishing and Save

Editing a blog that is already posted

To edit any blog you must be logged in.

Open “article” and maximize the screen

Go to the bottom of the article page and there will be a list of your blogs.

Select article for editing from the list at the bottom of the page

Open the article and make edits

Request Publishing and Save

If articles are starred, then they have been posted to your blog.

A question mark means it is pending approval.

If you want to delete an entire blog select the delete option.

If you forgot to name an article then it cannot be published.

In this case, select the date, double click and the article will open.

Title the article, request publishing and save.

Adding a graph created in Excel

Open your graph and right click on your graph to copy

Start

              All Programs

                            Microsoft Office

                                          Microsoft Office Tools

                                                        Microsoft Picture Manager

                                                                      Paste your graph

On the right hand side you will see a menu – using the drop down tool, go to Export

              Choose the destination for the file (your 8th grade science folder)

              Name the file

              Choose the format – JPEG file interchange format (*.jpeg)

              Select size – Web- small (448 x 336px)

You now have a jpeg file that you can upload to http://picvault.info (see instructions above)

Citations

All citations should be located under the article.

Do not put them all on one page and do not put them at the top of the article.

All citations must be in the correct format (page 11 in agenda, RJH website).

NO EXCEPTIONS – citations are part of the research process.

 

 

Adding images to your blog:

1.Write your article in Word and save to the Whipperwill.

2. Log into your blog.

3. Make sure you are in the 'graphical' format.

4. Copy and paste your article from Word.

5. Click on the "insert image" icon (the one that looks like mountains).

6. Open another tab on your browser and go to http://picvault.info.

7. Use the 'browse' button to find your photo.

8. Press the 'upload image' button.

9. Press 'select code' from the top box marked 'URL of your image' then copy it.

10. Press Ctrl and c to copy the code.

11. Return to the window of your article. Paste the code into the URL location.

12. Resize to 300 pixels in width for a medium size photo..

13. Choose a border and/or alignment as needed, or skip.

14. Click OK.

15. Save your article. Request publishing if you are done.
