Energy Focus Class

Reference links:

On Mondays, a 7th grade focus class learns about energy. The first group of students learned how electricity was created and how other sources of energy are needed to generate electricity. We also discussed the energy it takes to get the products we eat, use and/or need in our homes. Some things come from great distances. Is it environmentally sound to purchase products from far away?  Listen to Energy Podcast #1 for their summary.

The second group of students have started to learn about our carbon footprint. Often we use energy in such a way that carbon dioxide gas is released into our atmosphere. Why is this problem and what can we do to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions?

We often have guests in our class including State Rep. David Borden from New Castle, and Mrs. Mimi White and Mrs. Lucy Neiman from Rye. Amanda Bacon from Lamprey Oil has also joined our class and helped us find ways to reduce our energy consumption.

Now, it's time for all of us to take the challenge, the NH Carbon Challenge.
